Photo Albums & Slipcase

 

Explore different styles of photo albums using a variety of sewing structures & guards, end papers and cover materials, and learn how to make and cover a slip case.

 

This course is suitable both for those simply wishing to learn a new skill or for students working towards City & Guilds Level 1 Certificate in Design & Craft  (7716-89 Bookbinding) qualification. C&G students will also be given guidance on how to make and present the samples, albums, slip case and other evidence required for subsequent assessment.

Students should have completed Bookbinding for Beginner or have equivalent skills before attending this course.

 

Students will explore several different case bound album structures where the book block is constructed from:-

  • single folded nested leaves
  • folios of heavyweight watercolour paper with debossed mounts
  • strip guarded leaf, with cloth joints

Students will also make a contemporary non-adhesive structure and a slip case for one of their albums..
