Dominic Riley

 

Dominic Riley is an internationally renowned bookbinder, lecturer & teacher. His bindery is located in the Lake District, from where he travels across the UK teaching and lecturing. He spends part of the year teaching Master Bookbinding workshops in San Francisco Centre for the Book, across the USA and in Australia. His work is mostly restoration and design binding. He was elected a Fellow of Designer Bookbinders in 2008.

 

Among his many awards he won first prize, the Sir Paul Getty Award, in the 2013 International Bookbinding Competition. His bindings are in collections worldwide, including the British Library, the Grolier Club in New York and the San Francisco Public Library.

 

Dominic was co-founder of SoB Seminar 2002 and DB/SoB workshop series, 2004. He was elected President of the Society of Bookbinders in 2017.

Winner of the first prize, the Sir Paul Getty Award, in the DB International Competition, 2013. Winning binding was acquired by the Bodleian Library in Oxford.
